Doctors wear black arm bands, demand DACP

Published on:

The Government doctors of the State have again hit the path of agitation in support of their demand for implementation of the Departmental Assured Career Progression (DACP) scheme. On Monday they wore black arm bands on the call of their organisation, the Provincial Medical Health Service (PMHS).

The general secretary of the PMHS, Dr Naresh Napalchiyal said that the demand of the DACP is old one and the State Government is not agreeing to implement it properly. He said that the doctors wore black arm bands as a protest measure and if the demand is not accepted then the doctors would undertake work boycott for two hours from February 1.

Napalchiyal said that the review meetings would be held on February 7 in both Garhwal and Kumaon divisions and the future course of action would be decided. He clarified that the essential services would be maintained during the agitation.

The DACP entails benefit of assured increase in the grade pays of the doctors after 4, 9, 13 and 20 years of the service irrespective of whether they get promotions or not. It is worth mentioning here that the State Government decided to implement the scheme for the doctors who joined the service in the year 2015, leaving the serving doctors of the State health services high and dry.

The association is of the view that the State Government should implement the scheme as only 35 percent of total sanctioned posts of medical officers are occupied.
