The doctors transferred to the hospitals in remote and mountainous locations against their wishes in the recent transfers in health department have started pulling all strings to get their transfers cancelled. Most of these doctors were comfortably posted in hospitals located in Dehradun, Haridwar or places located in plain areas from last many years and transfers have jolted them. These doctors are meeting their political patrons and putting pressure to stall their transfers. The hyper activity of many transferred doctors has fuelled many a rumours among the medical fraternity.

Their efforts however many not yield immediate results as the Government this time appears determined that the transferred doctors join their new places of postings. One senior government officials said that the health department is helmed by none other than Chief Minister and he has clearly directed that no reversion orders of transfers are issued. In an unprecedented move the department has released separate transfer orders this time. These orders clearly state that the transferred doctors should join new place of posting within seven days.

Further the order has said that salary of June month of transferred doctors would be disbursed from new place of posting and the head of the department is held accountable for any delay in relieving transferred doctors.

In the associated hospital of Government Doon Medical College (GDMC) from where maximum number of doctors are transferred these transfers are debated with flair. One of a senior doctor said, “The government should not have been selective in transfers of doctors belonging to Provincial Medical Service from the medical college hospital. The medical college administration should release all doctors of PMS from the hospital and recruit its own staff’’.
