Doctors' 'convenient' strike gets demands accepted

Published on:

The State Government managed to break the agitation of doctors of State health services on DACP but the entire episode also threw it in poor light as it allowed the PMHS to dictate terms.

The PMHS cleverly opted for work boycott for two hours for last ten days, which caused problems to the patients in the Government health facilities. By this type of agitation the doctors were marked present in the attendance registers and they succeeded in putting pressure on the Government. The two hour work boycott also escaped the wrath of court. It is worth mentioning here that the recent strikes by the nurses and treasury employees were broken abruptly after the High Court intervened and asked these organisations to resume work immediately. The State Government erred in delaying DACP to the serving doctors and granting it to only new doctors earlier and corrected its decision only after the agitation and problems faced by the patients.

The State health minister Surendra Singh Negi, refused to comment anything when confronted by The Pioneer as to what punitive action the Government is planning to take against the agitating doctors for bringing the health services on its knees.
