Docs: Radiologist's report on liyakat given by cops via What'sApp was incomplete

A panel of three doctors, who had conducted medical test of liyakat Ali, resident of Bharuwala, who was allegedly beaten up by Premnagar police station in-charge sub-inspector Yashpal Bisht and sub-inspector Jitendra Kumar during his police custody, are learnt to have informed the court that they have made the report based on the part of the radiologist’s report sent by the police on What’s App.

The police had told them that there was only a day left to submit the report to the court, they said. Doctors further said that they had muddled up things unintentionally while in a hurry and under pressure from the cops. They said that they were misled by the police over the matter.

It should be mentioned here that regarding this issue, the lower court had issued a notice to the team of doctors and asked why FIR should not be lodged against them to be followed by departmental action for the faulty report they had submitted.

Doctors informed the court that police had not given them the complete report sent by the radiologists. Besides,   police had pressured them to complete the medical report based on what’sapp photograph in a few hours. The portion of the injuries sustained by Ali was not clear in the photograph provided by the police to them, they said.

Two out of three doctors to whom the court had served notices–Dr Navjeet Bedi and Dr Chetan Giroti- had appeared in the court on Thursday. They had explained their view of the matter.  In the court of ACJM-I Vinod Kumar Berman, they said that the police had not provided them with the genuine radiologist’s report. What they had been provided with was the doctored report prepared by them.

Based on that report, the police had recorded their statement, they told the court. Doctors admitted their mistake and said that they would not do the same mistake again in future.

The court had askd Dr Nidhi Uniyal, the third doctor  of the panel, who did not  turn up at the court despite being summoned, to give  explanation of her absence  by June 18. Court had also directed the three doctors of the panel to appear in the court on June 18. Notably, the doctors had prepared the report on June 8. Some portions of the report had been deleted by the police, they are learnt to have told the court.
