The State Government’s health policy seems to be quite unperceiving. While many of the 2009-batch MBBS students after completing their degree courses from the Government Shushila Tiwari Hospital and Medical College were looking forward to join their duties in hill areas of the State as per their agreement with the State Government, the State Government has decided to appoint 40 such newly-appointed 2009 batch doctors as Junior Resident doctors in the same medical college.
There were 80 students in 2009 MBBS batch. After counseling on Saturday, most of the students of the aforesaid batch had been given appointment letters to join their duties in hill districts of Uttarakhand like Pithoragarh, Champawat, Bageshear to name a few.
But as the officials concerned of the Government Shushila Tiwari Hospital and Medical College said as many as 40 doctors of the same batch have to be appointed as Junior Resident doctors at the same medical college (Government Shushila Tiwari Hospital and Medical College) on merit basis for a year as per the Government’s directions in this regard.
Out of these 40 doctors, about 22 doctors are refusing to join the aforesaid medical college as Junior Resident doctors. They rather want to join their duties in hilly areas.
These newly-appointed doctors’ contention is that after joining as Junior Resident doctors, they would not have time to pursue their further studies. So, they want to join their duties in hill areas. But the Government Shushila Tiwari Hospital and Medical College administration is of the view that as per the State Government’s order 40 doctors have to be appointed as Junior Resident doctors in the same medical college.
Necessary legal action will be taken against those newly-appointed doctors who refuse to join as the Junior Resident doctors in the medical college, asserted the officials concerned of the Government Shushila Tiwari Hospital and Medical College administration.
