Docs' 'attitude', safety in focus

Published on:

The incident involving the personal attendant of Dr KB Joshi and BJP councillor highlights the issue of safety of doctors and increasing public anger against the behaviour of doctors. Dr Joshi himself said that he was not in OPD at the time of incident which itself raises question as the time of OPD is from 8 am to 2 pm. Secondly, Dr Joshi also admitted that the attendant is not an employee of hospital and he takes him to hospital to control the large number of patients. It clearly shows that the hospital does not have enough personnel to manage patients.

This correspondent was present in the meeting of the doctors and their views suggested that they are doing some sort of favour to the general public as they are discharging duties in the Government hospital. While on one hand these doctors are complaining about lack of facilities and tough working environment in Doon hospital, on the other hand, they engage in all possible methods to get posting in this hospital. Dr Joshi even threatened to resign from service and said that he would get much better pay package and mental peace if he opts to join some private hospital.
