The agitating contractual workers of the hospital held a gherao of the Health Minister at the associated hospital of GDMC on Monday. The workers are on a strike from June 27 and are demanding that there services should be transformed from the Uttarakhand Purva Sainik Kalyan Nigam limited (UPNl) to the medical education department.
The President of the association of the contractual workers of the GDMC, Dinesh Singh Rawat told the Minister that 171 contractual workers of the Doon hospital and district female hospital were appointed in past by the Hospital Management Committee but later there services were transferred to UPNl when these hospitals were merged into medical college.
He also demanded that the salary of the contractual workers should also be increased. The minister assured the agitated workers that their justified demands would be accepted.
