DMC interviews from Dec 26

Setting the ball rolling finally for the recruitment process of the proposed Doon Medical College (DMC), the Medical Education Department of Uttarakhand would conduct walk-in-interviews for the posts of professors, associate professors and assistant professors from December 26.

These recruitments would be done by the agency of newly-constituted Medical Services Recruitment Board (MSRB). Initially there was some confusion on the agency which would be responsible for all important task of recruitment of teaching and other staff for the DMC as the Rajbhavan had objected on the choice of Government to assign the task on a committee of Principals of Doon, Haldwani and Srinagar Medical colleges.

The Director of DMC and Officiating director of Medical education department, Dr Ashutosh Syana said that the walk in interviews for the posts of Professors would be held on December 26 while the interviews for the posts of Associate Professor and Assistant Professors would be held on December 27 and 28 respectively.

The walk-in-interviews would be held in the office of Director Medical College Chander Nagar, Dehradun.  Dr Syana said that selected candidates would be given a time period of 10 days to join their new assignment.  The recruitment board is entrusted with the task of selecting seven posts of Professors (one each in Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, General medicine, General surgery, Gynecology and Blood bank), 16 associate Professors and 31 Assistant Professors.

The selection process for the DMC would be as per the norms of the Medical Council of India (MCI) and the aspirants would have to produce No Objection Certificate (NOC) from their employer at time of the interview. The salary for the professors would be Rs143000 per month with an annual increment of Rs6000 while the salary of Associate Professor is fixed at Rs123000 per month with an annual increment of Rs 6000.

The salary of the assistant Professor is fixed at Rs95000 per month with annual increment of  Rs3600. The state government would also provide accommodation or house rent to them. Meanwhile, it is a race against time for the medical education department as the team of MCI is expected to visit the college anytime.

The fate of proposed medical college with a capacity of 150 students in I year MBBS course is dependent solely on the approval of MCI.  The department is also facing a daunting task to complete the construction activities for the medical college which are going on at different places of the city. MCI team had last time pulled up the officials of medical education department on shoddy preparations of the medical college and wasting their precious time.
