The interviews for the 45 faculty positions in Doon Medical College (DMC) would be held on February 1 and 2.  The Principal of DMC, Dr Pradeep Bharati Gupta said that the walk-in-interviews for these positions would be held at the administrative block of the college located at Dehra khas in Patel Nagar.

He said that recruitment would be held for the seven posts of Professors, 15 posts of Associate Professors and 23 posts of Assistant Professors. The DMC has also asked five of its newly appointed members in anesthesia department to serve in the associated medical college hospital which consisted of erstwhile Doon hospital and Doon women hospital.

These hospitals which were hampered by shortage of anesthetists would now have Dr Hema Saxena, Dr Atul Kumar, Dr N K Agarwal, Dr N Narriyal and Dr Deepika Tiwari at  their services. This move would help in strengthening of the existing health facilities in the hospital.

The Principal of the college has also asked the Director Medical health to provide him the list of single tenders for procurement of equipments which need change of specifications so that the process of E tendering can be initiated after providing amended standards. The college has also asked the State Government to provide the required number of sanitation workers from agency like Uttarakhand Purva Sainik Kalyan Nigam limited (UPNl) at the earliest.

All these arrangements are part of the preparations for the second visit of the team of Medical Council of India (MCI) which is scheduled anytime after January 30. The team which had visited the proposed medical college earlier this month had pointed several shortcomings and asked the authorities to get them rectified and the college authorities do not want to present a negative image before the visiting team of MCI on which the all important recognition of the medical college is dependent.
