It appears that the administration of the associated hospital of Government Doon Medical College (GDMC) here is trying to save the skin of the doctor (Senior Resident) accused of asking a patient to visit his home for further treatment. It is learnt that the inquiry conducted by the hospital has given a clean chit to the SR.

On Tuesday the Medical Superintendent (MS) of the hospital Dr KK Tamta received the report of the inquiry. It is learnt that the SR has told that he had asked the said patient to visit his home so that he could provide better treatment to her. He however refused that he had demanded any money from her for this largesse of his.

The female patient has also reportedly taken back her charges. This patient, a resident of Jhabreda resident had left her treatment midway after this SR asked her to visit his home for further treatment for which he allegedly demanded a hefty amount.  The head of department of Chest diseases Dr Rameshwar Pandey was handed over the task of inquiry on the issue.

Meanwhile the second inquiry involving infection to four patients, who had undergone cataract surgeries in the Eye Operation Theatre (OT) of the hospital, is still on. It is learnt that the inquiry report would be submitted on Wednesday.

On Tuesday, the head of department of eye Dr Sushil Ojha and Dr Rupleen visited the Mahant Indiresh Hospital where these four patients are undergoing treatment. It is learnt that vision of one of these four patients is almost lost and would be shifted to some higher centre while two patients have recovered completely.

Following newspaper reports of these two incidences the state medical education minister Dinesh Dhanai had ordered the MS  of the hospital to conduct an inquiry and submit a report within 24 hours.
