Derhadun District Magistrate SA Murugesan held a meeting with the district officers and Sub-Divisional Magistrates at Vikas Bhawan on Wednesdayto take stock of the preparations of the 70th Independence Day. Murugesan said that the main progamme of hoisting of national tri-colour flag by the Uttarakhand Chief Mininster Trivendra Singh Rawat would be held at Parade Ground at 10 am on August 15. The flag hoisting ceremony at Government offices would be held at 9 am.
The information department officers have been directed to make arrangement of loud speakers at the crossings in the city to run patriotic songs . All the Government and non Government buildings will be illuminated lED bulbs in the city on two days- August 14 evening and 15.
DM directed the Municipal Corporation officers to make proper sanitation arrangements at the important parks and around the places where statues of freedom fighters and statehood activists are located. The officers concerned have been directed to launch tree plantation progammes at block level, tehsil level and district level. The excise department officers have been directed to ensure that no liquor shop is open on August 15. The cultural department officers have been directed to conduct kavi sammelans on the eve of Independence Day. The local artists should be invited.
Public Works Department officers have been directed to fill the potholes, make the surface plain and construct pandals at Parade Ground while Jal Sansthan department officers have been directed to ensure that portable water is available for the visitors at Parade Ground. DM also directed the chief education officer to ensure that national flags are unfurled at schools. Prabhat Feri would also be conducted at the school level apart from conducting sports, debate competitions and others.
