The Municipal Corporation of Dehradun administrator and District Magistrate SA Murugesan has directed the sanitation workers to end their strike and return to work from Friday. In a notice issued regarding the workers on strike, the MCD administrator has warned that in case the workers failed to return to work from Friday, the principle of ‘no work, no pay’ will be applied to them. Further, with the municipal sanitation workers also joining the strike by ward sanitation committee workers, the administrator has directed them to return to work failing which stern disciplinary action will be taken against them. Further, in a communication sent to the senior superintendent of police, the MCD administrator has stated that the striking employees are preventing the other workers from undertaking civic sanitation workers. The police have been asked to take necessary measures to prevent disruption of such works and potential damage to municipal vehicles being used for the sanitation works.
