DM conducts surprise check at Mahila Hospital

Published on:

A few days after assuming charge as the District Magistrate of Haridwar, Deepak Rawat went for an unannounced inspection of the Mahila Hospital on Monday. During the inspection, he enquired into the detailed working and the general operations of the hospital. He also listened to the problems the patients have been facing.

It is learnt that the DM randomly visited and checked the registration counter, out- patients department, ICU, birth certificate distribution centre and other sections of the hospital. Sounding unhappy over the poor sanitation  facilities in the toilets and the unavailability of water facilities, he asked the officials concerned to address the problems seriously. He also directed them to deal with the problem of paucity of medicines and arrange for them at the earliest.

Regarding the scarcity of doctors plaguing the hospital, the DM said that a request letter would be sent to the State Government. “We would demand the State health department to provide more doctors to the State-run medical facility,” said the DM.

He directed the hospital authorities to keep ample stocks of Iron, Folic Acid and other necessary medicines. If there are some problems in the maintenance of the stocks, it must be brought to his notice on priority basis, he said.  He  also interacted with the chief medical superintendent Dr. Bhavani Pal and Dr Sandeep Nigam over the main problems dogging  the hospital.

The district magistrate asked the hospital staff members to  be more active while addressing the problems of the patients. He warned of stern action against the errant staff members who  would prove apathetic to  the response system. He also asked the hospital staffers to put the contact numbers of the CMO, deputy CMO, CDO and other officials in a public place in the hospital to enable the patients and their near ones to contact them in case of necessity.
