After Uttarakhand Chief Minister Harish Rawat expressed disappointment on Friday with Dehradun DM Chandresh Kumar for failing to arrange woodstoves at important places like ISBT, Railway Station, Clock Tower and some other places in the State capital, where large number of people roam around, DM Kumar appointed district officers to conduct inspection and ensure that an arrangement of woodstoves is made in their assigned areas. Rawat inspected various Rain Baseras and various important places on Friday night and found the district administration sitting on his instructions. Apart from this, he found things at Rain Beseras ‘pathetic’.
CM Rawat wondered over the plight of other districts with things remaining so dismal in the State capital itself. He said this is despite adequate funds having been provided to the DM concerned. In a press release released on December 17 last, DM had said that he had directed the officers concerned to arrange woodstoves at important places apart from making proper arrangements at Rain Baseras in the State capital.
Taking note of the CM’s direction, DM Kumar has appointed district officers and directed them to inspect their assigned areas during night. Additional DM (administration) Jharna Kamthan has been directed to conduct inspection at places like Prince Hotel, Railway Station premises, Clock Tower and Rain Basera at Race Course. ADM (finance) Pratap Singh Shah has been assigned with Doon Hospital Chowk, Taxi Stand, Gandhi Road Chandar Nagar, Raipur Road Sahastradhara, Chukhu Mohallah.
City Magister lalit Narayan Mishra has been assigned to look after Kanak Chowk, Dilaram Bazaar Police picket while Deputy Collector NS Dangi with ISBT, Niranjanpur Sabji Mandi Police picket and Rain Basera located at ISBT. The district officer Mohan Singh Barnia has been asked to look after Kishannagar, Shani Mandir and Bindal. The district officers have been directed to ensure that none sleeps at night in the open. If one is found this way he should be promptly shifted to the nearest Rain Basara. All SDMs have been directed to do the same in rural areas and submit reports to him on a regular basis, the DM said.
