The Divya Jyoti Jagrati Sansthan has staged a rally with a banner, ‘Save Girl Child, Save Humanity’ in district headquarter Pauri on Friday. Hundreds of women participated in the rally, raising voice against female foeticide. The rally started from the bus station and snaked through several areas like Dhara Road, Collectorate, Upper Bazaar and Mall Road before ending at the spot whence it had started. Those who participated said the awareness rally with thrust against female foeticide is meant to motivate the people against discrimination on the line of gender. Posters were flaunted to spread the message that girls and boys are inherently the same. The participants said they would keep up the momentum in the coming days. On behalf of the outfit spearheading the movement it was said that the female child ratio against that of the male child is abysmally low in many States and Uttarakhand is one of them.
