DIT University held its second round of counselling for B.Tech programmes on Saturday. Computer science engineering (CSE) remained the most preferred choice of engineering aspirants, followed by mechanical engineering and electronics and communication engineering (ECE). Newly introduced integrated programmes (BTech+MTech and BTech+MBA) emerged as popular streams, said University vice-chancellor Dr KK Raina.
The entire selection process has been carefully designed on the basis of merit only. limited intake in each of the programmes has been deliberately kept to ensure that students benefit by getting individual attention, he added.
Dr Raina said that students, who could not make it to the first counseling, also reported in large numbers to attend the second round of counseling. More than 600 students reported in the counseling held for remaining seats after the first round of counseling held on June 15.
Those students who had already got admissions in the first counseling also participated in this round to upgrade their previously allotted seats. Around 350 students will be offered admissions in the counseling conducted for seven B.Tech programs, in this session, he added.
He further said that the merit for Uttarakhand State and All India candidates was prepared on the basis of class 12 merit. In second phase of admission process, the second counseling will be held on July 10 at Air Force Auditorium in New Delhi. In this counseling, the seats will be allotted on the basis of JEE Mains rankings followed by the merit of class 12 percentage. The admission process in B.Tech programme for this year will be closed after the Delhi counseling.
The vice-chancellor said that the University will also offer scholarships to the meritorious students. This year, the scholarships will be awarded to students admitted to the University on the basis of marks secured in class 12 and JEE rankings.
The students being admitted in various courses will now be required to do the reporting by July 15, failing which their admission will be subject to cancellation. The classes for the new academic session are slated to be commenced from August 1, Dr Raina added.
