The teachers   would be trained by the education department and assistance is sought from Patanjali Yog Peeth as well, say the department officials.

To bring the yoga revolution amidst the youths, the District Education Department would start training teachers in schools as per the guidelines from the State education directorate. A two days workshop will be held for which the education department has started the preparations in full swing.

Speaking to The Pioneer, district education officer (primary) Dr Pushpa Rani said, “At present, the district schools have an option to give students choice to opt for Yoga or Judo Karate under Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan (RAMSA). Now as per the State directions Yoga may come into main stream.”

All sports teachers in the schools of the district will be trained to prepare Yoga module. For this, the trained teachers from the State level would be engaged. In the training workshop, the teachers would be briefed about designing the course module realizing the importance of Yoga education in our lives and how yoga can be used to keep lifestyle diseases at bay.

New experiments are being done by the education department to upgrade the level of education in the schools at State level. After the success of innovations, Adarsh Prarthna (Ideal Prayer) and other similar projects, the education directorate is now mulling over introducing compulsory yoga education in 914 schools of the district.

The district officials are also in contact with Patanjali Yog Peeth for training the yoga teachers in schools.
