The State passport office has set up a special counter to facilitate Haj yatris. The passport office would start distributing the application forms for Haz yatris from January 14.
The State Haz committee has setup a deadline of February 08 for the application forms for Haz yatra. Apart from separate counter the office has also appointed K P Singh as nodal officer for helping Haz yatris. The office has also started a token system to smoothen the process of issuing passport to the Haz yatris.
The Regional Passport Officer of Dehradun, Vijay Shankar Pandey said process of issuing passports to Haz yatris has started and the ministry of foreign affairs has been intimated about this development. He said that those interested for making passports should apply at the site www. passportindia.gov.in and visit the Haz counter at the passport office with the relevant documents.
Thousands of the Haz yartis apply for the passport every year but many of them fail to get the passport due to last minute rush and insufficient documents. The passport officer also said that those intending to renew their passports should also apply for the same.
