Dispute between legislators delays Cong rebel’s joining BJP

The announcement made by Congress rebel Chowdhary Yashveer Singh before Holi festival is yet to see the light of the day. Singh had confirmed that he had received a proposal from the BJP’s Khanpur MLA Pranav Singh ‘Champion’ to join the party. However, he is yet to join the party. There are many obstacles in the way, say the political observers. It is learnt that the dispute between the two party legislators is delaying his joining the party.

Singh who had bid goodbye to Congress had made an announcement that he would soon join the BJP. He is preparing to become member of the BJP along with his son Gaurav Chowdhary. Two times legislator from Jhabreda constituency, Singh had left Congress on March 18. He had accused the Congress of insulting him and mismanagement in the party.

Observers aver that the long standing dispute between BJP legislators Pranav Singh ‘Champion’ and Deshraj Karnwal has delayed the process of Singh joining the saffron party. Brother of Chowdhary Yashveer, Chowdhary Kulveer is said to be close to the BJP’s Jhabreda MLA, Deshraj Karnwal. The two brothers are politically separate. Karnwal is reportedly not in favour of Singh joining the party.

It will be recalled that after Singh met ‘Champion’ there was much talk of him joining the BJP. After speculation was fuelled by talk on the social media, Singh said that most of his supporters had reached a consensus in support of his joining BJP. He would be taking membership of the party in front of state party president and chief minister, he had stated earlier. Notably, the two times legislator Choudhary Yashveer Singh had fought on the Bahujan Samaj Party in 2002 and 2007. His son had also contested the assembly election in 2012 from Manglaur but could not succeed. Singh had then joined the Congress and in 2017, contested from Khanpur as a Congress candidate and ended up losing to the BJP candidate.
