In support of their demand for appointment in the Police department, the constables who were dismissed by the department have submitted a memorandum addressed to the President of India seeking the right to euthanasia on Sunday. The protesters warned that they will intensify their protests unless their demands are met soon. Incensed over State Government’s apathy towards their demands, the dismissed police constables assembled at Parade Ground and shouted anti-Government slogans.
According to protesters, the Police department has shown double standards by debarring only some of the candidates who had applied in two districts after their selection. Several meetings were held with department officers and state government representatives earlier. Except assurance from the state government, their demands are yet to be addressed. According to protesters, the members are being mentally and financially exploited by the government. According to him, the government talks about providing employment to the youth but in reality, they disqualified the employed youth. The protesters alleged that around 500 constables who had also submitted their application forms from two districts are still working in the police department.
