With the incessant rain spawning wide-spread water-logging, chairman of the State disaster management committee Prayag Dutt Bhatt has set up a cell under the chairmanship of SDM, Haldwani, Pankaj Upadhyay, to solve it and other problems rain triggers. After visiting different parts of Haldwani, including Dahariya, CMT Colony and Mukhani here on Tuesday, he asked the SDM, Haldwani to prepare a work plan within a week. He also stressed on smooth supply of drinking water and power to the people during the monsoon.
Residents of the affected areas said water is gushing into their residences thanks to the poor drainage system. “We are suffering now as we suffer during every monsoon season,” said one of the aggrieved residents. Interestingly, angry over crumbling basic services, state finance minister and MlA from Haldwani Indira Hridayesh had pulled up the officials concerned of the Nainital district administration on June 25. However, things have hardly changed with many roads having disappeared under water following a spell of rain on Tuesday.
