The Nainital district administration has asked the officials concerned to remove encroachments from different parts of the lake city of Nainital within a week.
It has also directed the officials concerned to issue notices to the house-owners who have encroached, defying rules to vacate the encroached places within a week.
While the municipal council of Nainital will serve notices to such landlords who constructed their houses in the lake city before 1984, the lake Development Authority (lDA), Nainital, on the other hand, will issue notices to those house-owners who built their houses in the lake city after 1984, the Nainital district administration officials clarified.
As per the notice, the house- owners should be given just a week to remove encroachment, as the officials concerned of the Nainital district administration affirmed, adding that no more time would be considered on the matter. At the same time, it has also emphasised on the need to remove encroachment from the Mall Road in the lake city.
Increasing encroachment on the Mall Road has only defaced the beauty of the road stretch along the lake. More so, the encroachment on both sides of the Mall Road keep causing inconveniences to the visitors and the tourists as most of them delight in strolling along the path. That is why the Nainital district administration has strictly asked the officials concerned to make the Mall Road free from encroachment.
It has also asked the officials concerned of the PWD and municipal council of Nainital to serve notices to those who have encroached upon the Mall Road and remove the encroachment accordingly within 15 days from the Mall Road. There should not be any discrimination in removing encroachment from the Mall Road, said the Nainital district administration officials.
Notably, with commercial activities growing here fast cases of encroachment in and around the lake city Nainital are also going up to the concern of the district administration. The anti-encroachment drives are being launched time to time, yet encroachment continues unhindered across the lake city.
