The unemployed diploma engineers of the State are up in arms against the Uttarakhand Public Service Commission’s decision to allow the Bachelor of Engineering (BE) and BTech qualified candidates to appear in the Junior Engineer examination.

The unemployed diploma engineer youths gathered at Gandhi Park on Monday and expressed resentment at the decision of public service commission. The youths decided to constitute Uttarakhand Diploma Sangharsh Samiti to pose a united fight. The president of Samiti, Viresh Panchwan told The Pioneer that the post of junior engineer is reserved for diploma engineers and the decision of the commission has jeopardized their job prospects.

He said the Government notification and service regulations of junior engineers clearly mention that only the diploma engineers are eligible for Junior Engineer’s post. Panchwan said that the Samiti would organise a massive protest meeting on April 23. The public service Commission recently invited application for 550 posts of junior engineers.
