Keeping in view the heavy rush in markets ahead of the festival of Diwali and to ensure peaceful conduct of this festival, Garhwal Range DIG Amit Sinha has directed the district police heads to make elaborate security arrangements in their respective jurisdiction.
Sinha said this after launching Crime and Criminal Tracking Network and System (CCTNS) at Gopeshwar Police Station in Chamoli district on Tuesday. The DIG said that police officers have been directed to deploy adequate force at sensitive and crowded places to avoid untoward incidents in their respective districts.
They need to intensify police patrolling at night apart from conducting checking drives at important places including bus stops, railway stations, crowded places and market areas. Anti sabotage checking, dog squad, bomb disposal and other teams need to be deployed for conducting checking drive from time to time in their assigned areas.
They need to establish barricading at exit and entry points and conduct stringent checking drive there. The police officers were directed to be vigilant at sensitive places and crowded places and deploy additional places there. Police officers need to deploy police for conducting physical verification of the site before issuing no objection certificate (NOC) for opening cracker shops to the shopkeepers. Negligence in this regard will not be tolerated, he added.
Singh further said that the police officers who are deployed on fire and emergency call need to reach the incident site immediately after the incident takes place. In case of emergency, people were requested to dial the city control room number 100, fire service number 101 Garhwal Range office number: 0135-2716201 and other numbers released by the district concerned.
He has directed the police officers to take all possible security measures for peaceful conduct of Diwali festival in their districts. He appealed the people to celebrate an eco-friendly Diwali. Sinha further said that after implementation of CCTNS, general diary and first information report will be available online. This will reduce manual work in the police station and FIR and GD reports will be available in digital format.
All the police department records will be available online. It will be easy for police officers to conduct investigation on registered complaints, he added.
