The State Government should give priority to the local film producers while making appointments to the vacant posts of Uttarakhand Film Development Council (UFDC), said the president of the Uttarakhand Film and TV Programme Producers Association, Shiv Painyuli while addressing newsmen here on Tuesday. He said Chief Minister Harish Rawat deserves appreciation for formulation of ‘Film policy’ in State and the creation of the UFDC.
He, however, added that the Government should have appointed film producers residing in the State as vice- president and members of the council. “The Government appointed busy film actor Hemant Pandey and famous director Tigmanshu Dhulia as vice-presidents of the Council and appointed many folk singers and cultural artists in the Council. Some like Dhulia, Narendra Singh Negi and Manish Verma have already expressed their inability to work in council,’’ said Painyuli. He further said that the state government should have constituted a ‘state literature and cultural council’ and appointed folk singers and literary personalities of state there.
Painyuli demanded that the government should now appoint film producers in the vacant positions of council. He claimed that the film producers help in creation of employment by producing the movie. The secretary of the association Ram Negi also supported the idea of appointment of a local film producer in the council.
He said that this would pave way for rapid development of film production in the state.
The press conference was attended by Sunil Badoni, Debu Rawat, Shekhar Nautiyal and others.
