Die-hard Cong workers get ready to march to Delhi in droves

Enthused by the party vice-president Rahul Gandhi’s return to Delhi and the party’s decisive win in Bhagwanpur Assembly by-polls, the Uttarakhand State Congress leaders and workers would attend the April 19 Delhi rally against the land Acquisition Bill in good numbers.

It is understood that their previous reticence on Gandhi has now evaporated after the youth leader who is likely to be anointed as the party president soon landed in Delhi.

While rejecting the view that he is a reluctant warrior, the workers are now defending Gandhi and ready to provide him support.

To ensure large footfalls in the much-talked about farmer’s rally, the State Congress leadership has asked the party’s rank and file to participate in it enthusiastically.

The state Congress leadership has entrusted the ministers, MlAs and office bearers at block levels to ensure maximum participation, it is known.

Party sources said the number of participants from the State would be over 15,000.

They said the party’s mood is now fairly combative with several green horns having been incorporated in the newly constituted State working committee.

“We are now confidently looking forward to the Assembly election slated in 2017,” said a senior Congress leader from the State.
