In a bid to ensure free and fair polling on Wednesday, Election Commission of India (ECI) has made control room at district level and will be functional 24x7. By dialing 1950 anyone including voters or polling officials can inform or get instruction from control room.
This time commission has made control room upto Block level. Even anyone can pass information to the Election Commission by dialing 0135-2713551 as well. This was disclosed by the chief electoral officer, Uttarakhand Radha Raturi while interacting with media person a day ahead of polling.
To ensure timely flow of information, Presiding Officer and Micro observer, which will be deployed especially in sensitive booth, will carry their mobile to polling booth but will have to keep it on silent mode.
Taking extra precaution, CEO has instructed all the presiding officer and micro observer to take group photograph of all the security personal of the booth before beginning of polling. If booth does not have CCTV then they have been asked to take the group photo with their mobile camera. Then they have been instructed to send the pic to their control room. To monitor the micro and macro activity during polling a separate control room, which will react on every inputs of local and national television channel regarding any polling, has been created. As they get input from channel then they will pass the information to concerned sector magistrate and they will have to respone to the control room within 30 minutes. Presiding officers have been instructed to act on the complaint of polling agent immediately.
