Belonging to a family of army officers, Dhruv Verma kept the tradition of his family when he passed out from IMA on Saturday. Interestingly enough, he got commissioned into the Mechanised infantry Regiment, in which his father is a serving brigadier.
Dhruv got his maiden posting in the Third Mechanized infantry Battalion based at Bikaner in Rajasthan. His father Brigadier VS Verma is the commandant of Mechanised Infantry Regimental Centre (MIRC) Ahmednagar in Maharashtra. Dhruv would be doing his young officers course at MIRC which is under the command of his father.
When asked as to whether or not he will feel awkward to command his own son, Brigadier Verma said, “In army, it does not matter. Moreover, he would not be under my direct command. Dhruv would have to chart his own career.” Incidentally, both maternal and paternal grandfathers of Dhruv were Major Generals in the army.
