State Director General of Police BS Sidhu has directed the district police heads to keep one efficient and well equipped security man instead of riot control vehicle or dozens of police commandos in their motorcade, as this may lead to unnecessary fear and inconvenience among people.
Police should work on reducing loot, burglary, vehicle thefts and other offences and restore confidence among the people. He would soon review crime cases in plain districts at the police headquarters. "When posted as district police head, I used to keep one efficient and well equipped security man and was feeling safe," DGP added.
