The newly appointed DGP Uttarakhand M A Ganpati took a departmental meeting in Mela control room on Friday noon. Since taking charge on May 1, he has been visiting different districts. On Friday, he visited parts of Haridwar district, including Roorkee and landhaura. He assured to give better facilities to the pilgrims of Char Dham Yatra as compared to what they got over the previous years with increased police patrolling.
Addressing a press conference in CCR Tower, Ganpati said that the priority of the police would continue to be prevention of crime and maintenance of law and order. He said evaluation and performance of different units of police force would be done at regular intervals. Stress would be the on the prevention of crime rather than quantum of crime handled. He emphasized on registration of all crime incidents which are missing.
Speaking to The Pioneer, DGP said, “Given an analysis of the district crime pattern, Haridwar is normal. However, things can improve further. Rackets are active in religious places which need to be adequately dealt with. In the matters related to property, police intervention is not often proper, something which needs to be addressed.”
When told about misbehavior of CPU with the people, the DGP assured that they would take action. He said, “The police had no license to misbehave with anybody.”
