Sub-inspector Nirvikar Singh, who had earlier submitted an affidavit in the court and alleged that a senior police officer was trying to influence the police investigation in the forest land purchase case, said that the DGP, BS Sidhu, may resign from the post and leave for the US on medical grounds. It would be pertinent to mention here that incumbent DGP BS Sidhu had allegedly bought forest land and was getting green trees axed from it.
While interacting with media persons, Singh said, “I am not protesting against the policy of the State Government and the Police department but raising the issues pertaining to DGP BS Sidhu, who had allegedly bought forest land and getting green trees axed from it. Being a head of Police department Sidhu is putting all efforts to influence the investigation. As long as he would lead the department the police won’t be able to investigate in a trasperent manner.
“When I was the investigation officer of the case, the senior police officer tried to influence the police investigation and threatened me not to forget that BS Sidhu is the DGP of Uttarakhand police. I had applied for the post of inspector but was rejected by the panel headed by the DGP” the SI alleged.Meanwhile, DGP Sidhu said that someone may have misled him. “I had applied before the State Government requesting leave for some days to go for treatment abroad.” He further said, “I would welcome if any departments including forest and others demand CBI inquiry in it.”
It would be pertinent to mention here that DGP Sidhu had purchased a piece of land at Old Mussoorie Road in Dehradun which the Forest Department claimed that it belonged to the Department. Then Sidhu had lodged an FIR against Anarwala residents Ved Prakash Mahawar and Satish Gupta, Ranjawala resident and forest guard Sri Prasad Saklani, Mussoorie divisional forest officer Dheeraj Pandey under Sections 420, 120B, 166, 167, 504 and 26 forest Act in Rajpur Police Station on July 9, 2013. The matter subsequently went to court.
