Director General of National Crime Record Bureau (NCRB) Safi Alam on Saturday expressed satisfaction over progress of the Crime and Criminal Tracking Network and System (CCTNS) project in the State after reviewing its status and steps being taken by the State police to ensure its implementation soon as possible.

The Additional Director General of Police (ADGP), Anil K Raturi apprised Alam of various moves being taken to ensure implementation of the CCTNS. The DG tried to know about the problems being faced by the officials during implementation of the CCTNS. The project in Uttarakhand, where total location numbers are less, could be completed before deadline by working with a team spirit.

DGP Satyavrata assured the DG of making the CCTNS functional by the end of November. The DGP said that connectivity of the systems to be set up under CCTNS is most likely by September 30. Two workshops on CCTNS were already organised to apprise the cops of the changes the CCTNS would bring in. Some of cops already underwent training for the CCTNS. Others would undergo training in near future.

The NIIT officials, who were also present in the meeting, informed that orders for hardware required setting up 184 computer cells across the State as part of the CCTNS project were placed. They would start connecting the police stations with the systems soon after the hardware is received.

DG NCRB Alam would carry out inspection of Rajpur police station, where systems have been set up under the CCTNS project, on Sunday. After inspection, the DG would have a dialogue with the officials, telling them what they can do to accelerate the pace of implementation of the project and where they need to make changes in their plan.
