While reacting to the former Chief Minister Harish Rawat's recent spate of sit-ins and agitation to protest against the BJP-helmed State Governments of Uttarakhand and Madhya Pradesh, the State BJP media head Devendra Bhasin on Sunday billed it as a cheap gimmick meant to pose himself as a leader that matters with the party’s high command in the squabble- torn party in the State. “Not just Harish Rawat, but all of them are engaged in stealing the show over others to remain relevant in the state’s politics. Their eyes are trained on the high command to get its favours to keep going in the state’s politics,” he said.
“With the state unit smarting under the factional feuds, they are mentally disturbed and that is why they are going for the shortcuts of staging sit-ins and stirs against the BJP-led state governments here and elsewhere to keep themselves floating in the volatile waters. However, our fight to make India Congress free would continue as per the call of the party’s national president Amit Shah,” he said.
Training his guns on Harish Rawat, he said that he was going for sit-ins and stirs without going through the facts and figures in his bid to impress his party high command as he is now out of its favour. “Besides, he has been trying to hog for himself the media attention too. This is imperative for him as other state leaders of his party are ignoring him. However, the ploy would fail to cut ice either with the high command or the state Congress leaders ,” he said.
Referring to the recently placed state budget, the state BJP leader said that with the previous Congress-helmed dispensation having emptied the coffers, the Trivendra Singh Rawat government has sought to set things in order. “This is something the Congress leaders, including Rawat, are not finding easy to digest,” he added.
