Dev Dolis to take the holy dip on April 22

It is another matter that a unanimous decision could not have been reached on Shahi Snan during  the Ardh Kumbh Mela, but in keeping with the long-continuing tradition, the carts of the deities (Dev Dolis) would participate in the holy dip on April 22 , one of the key bathing days. Invitation cards  are being sent to those deemed ambassadors of the Indian culture known as Sanatan Dharma.  The festival of faith has many such traditions which keep unfolding each passing day.

Mohan Singh Gaonwasi of Shridevbhumi loksanskriti Virasat Yatra told The Pioneer that during the last Kumbh Mela, nearly 1200 Dev Dolis had taken holy dip on the snan days. “This time too, we are inviting all the deities. On the last snan day of April, man- held carts  with the idols  installed in them would be brought from various parts of the State to Rishikesh. On 22 April, they will take holy dip in Ganga,” said Gaonwasi, adding that this time , aside  from the Dolis from Uttarakhand, deities from Himachal Pradesh will also come for snan.

“We would meet the Chief Minister on January  23  during which details of the arrangements and the route shall be deliberated upon,” he further said.
