The company handling the door to door collection of garbage in Dehradun is providing facility to citizens for online payment of the user charges. However, the account details have not yet been put up on the official website of the Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD). Since few citizens know of this facilities, the workers of the company continue to collect the user charges door to door.
The Ramky company project head in Dehradun, Mohit Dwivedi said, “We are collecting the door to door garbage user charges. It is easy to collect the charges from the homes but the commercial property owners are interested in paying the annual charge in advance sometimes online. We give them details of the account for online payment or collect the charge by cheque. It takes more effort to inform everyone individually. However, as an account has been made for garbage collection user charge, anyone can easily pay the amount online in the account.”
He further said, “I am not aware of whether the account details are linked to the MCD official website. However if not, then it should definitely be linked as then paying and collecting the money will be easier. Also, awareness regarding this is important among the payers.”
An official in charge of the IT department of MCD said, “We were not having any such information regarding this. However, we will be linking the account soon.”
