The wait of the applicants for the result of the dental doctor examination conducted by the Uttarakhand Medical Services Recruitment Board (UMSRB) in the month of January appears to get extended further as the board has forwarded the objections of the candidates to a panel of experts. The final result would be declared only after the report of the experts is received. The UMSRB had conducted the recruitment examination on January 22.
The Chairman of the UMSRB, Dr I S Pal told The Pioneer that based on the report of the experts a revised answer key would be uploaded on the website of the board and after that the final result would be released. He expressed hope that result of the recruitment examination would be declared within two weeks. It is learnt that many applicants had objected to the answer of some questions after the board released the answer key. Taking cognizance of these complaints, the board decided to forward them to a panel of experts. The opinion of the experts on objections is awaited.The state government decided to recruit 203 dental doctors in the state health services to provide doctors in the mountainous locations. It is worth mentioning here the state health services are reeling under acute shortage of doctors. Out of total 2711 posts of doctors in 993 government health centres of state health services, as much as 1615 posts are vacant are vacant.
Unable to provide doctors in the health centres the state government recently decided to recruit large number of dental doctors and appoint them in the remote health centres to provide some relief to the people there.
These Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) doctors would be appointed in 53 positions in dental cadre and 150 of Provincial Medical Health Services (allopathic doctors) cadre of the state health services. The services of these doctors would be permanent in nature and would be governed by the state dental service rules and regulation.
