The menace of Dengue is refusing to subside in the city as the number of cases mounted to 108 on Thursday.
The disease incidentally has returned to haunt the city after a brief lull in the month of October. The district Vector Borne Diseases Officer JP Bahuguna said that one new patient was identified in Brahampuri area of the city on Thursday. He said that the teams of medical health department took 10 samples from New Patel Nagar and two samples from Brahmanwala area on Thursday. Bahuguna said that the teams conducted intensive fogging in Brahmanwala.
large number of patients with symptoms of the diseases are admitted in different hospitals of the district. In the isolation ward of Doon hospital eight patients are admitted while in the paid ward of the hospital one patient is getting treatment. In the Coronation hospital five suspected patients of Dengue are getting treatment.
Interestingly the medical health department is refusing to acknowledge that the disease is increasing in the district. The state programe officer for Communicable diseases Dr Kiran Bisht said that the incidences of disease this year are much less than last year. Instead of taking proactive measures to combat the disease the department is busy juggling the data of patients by ensuring that only those samples which are found positive in ElISA test are included in the list of dengue patients.
The Congress MlA from Rajpur road Rajkumar has expressed his strong criticism for the manner in which the health department is working on the dengue front.
