Dengue: Schools ask students to go for full-sleeve shirts

Published on:

The private schools of the city have now started toeing the line of Government albeit belatedly on dengue. These schools have started asking their students to wear full sleeved clothes in wake of dengue threat. The Tiger mosquito (Aedes Aezypti) strikes during day time when the kids are in schools. After this newspaper in its edition of September 19 highlighted the threat of dengue lurking over the school children as they wear half sleeved shirts and shorts as part of their summer uniform, the education department released a customary advisory to the schools. This advisory however fell on deaf ears as the most of the private schools choose to look the other way instead of enforcing it. The Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, Harish Rawat intervened at this juncture and strictly asked the administration to ensure that children wear full sleeved clothes till October 30 to prevent their exposure to bite of tiger mosquito.
