Deliberations over transferring of Almora,Srinagar medical colleges in initial phase

Published on:

Though the deliberations between Uttarakhand Government and the army on handing over the Srinagar and Almora medical colleges are in initial phase, the offer of the State Government holds substance. Experts believe that if the army takes over the operation of these colleges it would be a win- win situation for both parties. Apart from saving funds the state government would be spared with the ordeal of providing faculty positions to these colleges situated in mountainous areas. The army in recent years has started strengthening its position along China border and taking over the operation of two medical colleges in Uttarakhand it would augment its resources in a strategically important area. Uttarakhand is a state with a very large population of serving and retired armed forces personnel. The reservation of some seats in these medical colleges for the wards of armed forces personnel would please this big population.
