Delayed barricading enrages locals at Defence Colony

Published on:

The residents of Friends Enclave in the Defence Colony area have expressed their disappointment with the district administration stating that the administration barricaded the entrance of their area when all patients tested positive for Covid-19 in the past have nearly completed their prescribed isolation period. According to a local Shailendra Negi, the administration did not do anything when there were more positive patients in the area for over two weeks and now when hardly five days left for two families to complete their 14 days isolation period, the administration declared the area as a containment zone and later barricaded the area causing unnecessary suffering to others.

Many locals stated that the lack of coordination among the officials of the different departments is causing such issues in the city amidst the pandemic. A local stated that on September 21, some officials including the Patwari came to inspect the said area and immediately declared it as a containment zone and now after five days, the administration barricaded the entrance. Another local resident of Friends Enclave, Gajendra Negi stated that there were three families who got tested positive for Covid-19 out of which one has already recovered and finished the home isolation period while the other two will finish it in less than a week.

This decision is quite irrelevant at this point when almost everyone has recovered in the area and such late decisions will only cause issues to other people rather than doing anything concrete towards containing the contagion, opined Negi.

This correspondent tried to contact the officials of district administration repeatedly but they were unavailable to comment on this issue.
