Dehradun SSP gets shock of his life....

Published on:

In a shocker of sorts, cops from Premnagar police station stumbled upon a board in a vacant plot in course of routine   patrolling, bearing ‘Mr Chawla, C/O SSP’, saying that the land belongs to some Chawla. The colour of the board is the same that Uttarakhand police uses. The plot is located at Ambedkar Colony Mauja, Suddhowala near Uttranchal Technical University.

Dehradun SSP Dehradun Sadanand Date said he did not know any Chawla who seemed to have used his designation in the board. Police are befuddled over how a person could have dared to use the designation of the SSP. Interestingly, it is learnt that the board has been standing in the plot for over three years.

Following the discovery, police acted swiftly and taking suo moto initiative, they lodged   a case under sections 417/420/424/469/484 of IPC against unidentified persons in Premnager police station.

Sub- inspector Anup Nyal who is investigating the case said that land owner’s name has not been mentioned on the board. Team is trying to find out who the land owner is. As per the preliminary investigation, land owner purchased the land in 2006.

SSP Date said he does have any land in Dehradun nor is he acquainted with any Chawla owning the piece of land.

Police said that the owner might have installed the board to scare away the land sharks scouting the area to grab and sell lands.  “This is natural, as invoking SSP Dehradun instills confidence in the people who are at the mercy of the land mafias, prowling around the city and its outskirts in search of vacant plots to grab and sell through forged documents. This is a brilliant ploy to protect lands from being gorged  by the land mafias who are operating in league with a certain section  of the  cops,” said an observer.
