Defeat triggers blame game among Cong leaders

Published on:

Despite being a ruling party, Congress lost four out of six municipal corporations’ mayor seat in local body polls on Tuesday. Two Municipal Corporation namely Rudrapur and Kashipur, where polling conducted through ballots, counting would begin by Tuesday late evening so result is yet to declare. Instead of accepting the defeat, Congress leaders are putting blame on others. For instance, they are saying Union Minister Harish Rawat could not save Haridwar and Roorkee Municipal Corporations Mayor seat and state cabinet Minister Indira Hridayesh could not save Haldwani seat.

By saying this they have ascertained that Congress is still facing factionalism and if this would continue then party, which had won five out of five lok Sabha seats in General election-2009, may lose all five seat in upcoming general election-2014. Political analysts say by receiving around 58,000 votes Congress candidate Dhasmana has won despite defeat because he managed to remove stains, which he was carrying since inception of Uttarakhand.

Sources said that State Intelligence had submitted a report to the State Government about the winnable candidate of congress party for Dehradun Municipal Corporation mayor seat. Now question is being raised who gave ticket to Dhasmana. Covertly the source said that by procuring more than 57,000 votes Dhasmana has won despite defeat because he managed to wipe-off black spot from his face. Now he would be one of the strong contenders for the one of vidhan Sabha seats of Dehradun district. To downgrade Dhasmana claim, party leaders have started saying that he got 57,000 votes in Municipal corporation, which is part of five Vidhan Sabha seats namely Rajpur road, Garhi cant, Mussoorie, Raipur and Dharampur. As we know that Rajpur road is reserve seat and Mussoorie 80 per cent area come in Mussoorie so he would be threat for Garhi cant, Raipur and Dharampur seat.

In Haridwar district Congress had fielded Sanjay Mahant from Haridwar Municipal Corporation and Ram Aggrawal from Roorkee but both seat they lost. In Roorkee congress achieved third position. Sources said the tickets were distributed with the consultation of Union Minister Harish Rawat. Haldwani, which is known as strong hold of Cabinet Minister Indira Hridayesh and PCC president Yashpal Arya but party achieved third position.

Sources said that as local body polls announced then Union Minister Harish Rawat wrote a letter to the Chief Minister Vijay Bahuguna and had expressed disappointment over the delay in the allocation of land for NDRF (national disaster Response Force) Battalion and Employee’s state Insurance Corporation (ESIC) Hospital and Medical College in Haridwar. In his CM Bahuguna denied all the allegations made by the Union Minister Rawat.
