Deepender seeks students union elections in Haryana

Published on:

A day after the Congress affiliated nominee won the Panjab University presidential post, Rohtak MP, Deepender Singh Hooda on Friday said that he will talk to Haryana Chief Minister, Bhupinder Singh Hooda about starting Students Union Elections in Haryana.

Deepender expressed hope that in view of the changed circumstances, he will fully consider the issue and take decision. The Rohtak MP said that the ban was imposed on the Students Union elections in Haryana during Bansi lal’s Government. In view of the unruly and violent behavior of one of the students group, it was considered appropriate to ban Students Union elections at that time.

"But a lot of time has passed since then and circumstances have changed. As per the lingdoh Committee’s recommendations, Students Union elections have been held at many places. We hope that in the coming times, student groups will play positive politics and will try to influence the students with their views and ideology," Deepender said.

Terming the victory of NSUI candidates in Punjab University Students Union elections as historic, Deepender said that earlier NSUI used to fight elections along with other local students organization. This is for the first time that NSUI put up its candidates on all the four posts of the students union of Punjab University and won two seats of President and Joint Secretary.

He thanked the students, both boys and girls, of the Punjab University for this victory.
