In the accidental fire which resulted in the death of a minor in Chandrabani area on May 28, parents of the deceased have accused police of not conducting an impartial investigation.

They also alleged that the owner of the mattress business where their child used to work is pressurising them to desist from pursuing the case.

Chairperson of State Commission for the Protection of Child Rights, Usha Negi said, “We are going to issue an advisory on Monday. This is a sensitive case.

The minor was found working under hazardous conditions. A complaint should have been filed. The family deserves compensation too.”The deceased 13 year old boy was working on the mattress warehouse owned by Ramesh Chaturvedi.

Father of the deceased told this correspondent, “My son was only trying to help us financially. Since, last two months he used work in the warehouse after coming back from school.

Now, the owner is pressurising us to not file complaint regarding the incident.”

He also alleged that the 108 ambulance in which his son was transported to the hospital did not have any oxygen cylinder.

He said, “They did not let any of us in the ambulance to accompany my son. In fact they did not even tell us about the hospital he was taken to. We first went to Doon hospital and then to Coronation.”
