Debris threatens existence of village

Published on:

The existence of Hadam Talla village is being endangered by the debris of the under — construction Mussoorie-Uttarkashi bypass being deposited over it. Due to blockages in Chamba-Mussoorie scrubber drainage, the accumulated dirty water is directly pouring into Hadam Talla village, begetting numerous problems for the villagers.

last year too, the floods had endangered the irrigated farms as well as houses of the villagers. This year also, due to the non - cleaning of the scrubbers in the rainy season, the water is gushing into the farms.

Meanwhile, protesting against the non- payment of compensation due to them because of the last disaster and the callousness of the administration in addressing their grievances, the villagers demonstrated, shouting slogans against the PWD Chamba department. Compounding on the villagers’ woes, the landslide zone seems to have got active in lal Mata Naame

Tok along the Mussoorie-Uttarkashi under-construction road, landing the villagers in the lap of danger. With rains having started in full swing, stones and water from the hills are getting into the houses.

The villagers have been demanding the administration to take concrete steps to at least mitigate the dangers confronting them, but no action has been taken so far.

Seemingly frustrated over the protracted administrative apathy regarding the dangers supposedly staring them in their faces, the villagers said they would go for a more vigorous form of stir to knock sense in the callous administration if the situation does not improve.
