Deal crime cases involving women with sensitivity, police told

Published on:

While taking his maiden meeting with district police chiefs at Police headquarters here on Tuesday a day after he assumed charge as the State Director General of Police, Anil Kumar Raturi said the police force must deal with crime cases involving children, women and persons from the weaker sections of society with utmost sensitivity.

He also urged the police officers to go all-out to improve the quality of investigation and policing by implementing the directions given from the police headquarters. Besides, the police officers should take their subordinates into confidence from time to time on how the public grievances are to be addressed.

They must show humility and flexibility while enforcing the laws strictly, Raturi stressed.

He laid thrust on impartiality proving to be the hallmark of State policing.

“The need for maintaining transparency in the force can hardly be over-emphasised. Our actions must be above board and we must stick to discipline and good behaviour. The common people must be made to realise that the force is working for them. The gulf between the seniors and juniors in the force must be bridged with the line of communication being strengthened. The juniors must feel that they are working under the benign guidance of their seniors,” the new State police chief said.

In sync with the State Government’s stress on clamping down on the land fraud cases, Raturi said the special investigation teams (SIT) should crack such cases to bring the culprits to book at the earliest while leaving no room for any manoeuvrability.  Taking a note of the series of cyber crimes happening in the State, he laid emphasis on imparting training to the police personnel to help them deal the tech- savvy criminals efficiently. This aside, he stressed on the force remaining alert and agile to take on any disaster like situation that might arise.

Among those present at the meeting were ADGP (administration) Ashok Kumar, ADGP (law and order) Ram Singh Meena, IG (law and order) Deepam Seth, IG (jail) PVK Prasad, IG Amit Sinha, IG Sanjay Gunjyal, IG AP Anshuman, and IG GS Martolia aside from the district police chiefs.
