The District Development Authority (DDA) in Udham Singh Nagar will focus on the interests of the general public while also acting against those responsible for construction of unauthorised colonies and encroachments.
The DDA was formed about two and a half years ago. However, initially necessary works could not be done to make it an effectively working authority. In the past, one room was allocated in the district collectorate for the DDA with neither officers nor other staff being appointed in the authority at that time. However, ahead of the recently held urban local body elections, the state administration appointed officers in this authority. Additionally, an office was provided for the DDA in the Vikas Bhawan. Vinay Shankar Pande was appointed vice chairman of the authority with BS Negi being made the superintending engineer and Anand Ram being made the assistant engineer. Negi informed that the works related to the authority will now be expedited. While working in the interests of the general public, the authority will also act against those responsible for illegal constructions and encroachments. Stating that the aim of the DDA is to facilitate planned development, he said that every possible attempt will be made to achieve this. Care will also be taken to ensure that no problem is faced by those who approach the authority to get building maps passed. The DDA team will consistently visit the areas under its purview and ensure swift action against any illegal construction. The superintending engineer appealed to the public to provide information to the DDA office about any illegal construction or encroachment on sealing land. The identity of the complainant will not be revealed, he added.
