The Department of German, School of languages, Doon University celebrated “The day of German language” (Tag der deutschen Sprache) on Friday.
The programme began with Rosenstolz’z song “lass es liebe sein” by the students. This was followed by a poster- making competition. They sang beautiful and melodious German songs, recited German poetry written by famous German poets like Goethe, H. Heine, G. Eich and W. Busch and gave informative speeches on Germany, German culture and Indo- German relations.

Johann Strauss Jr.‘s waltz “An der schoenen blauen Donau”, conducted by a famous Dutch violinist and conductor Andre Rieu was played to give students a glimpse of classical German compositions. Students were given a glimpse into the German culture and history through slide- shows prepared by the students. In the process, memories of previous celebrations in the department were also refreshed. .
The day was celebrated as an amalgamation of contemporary and classic art. The day became a platform for showcasing German culture for the students who are learning foreign languages in Doon University.
