The members of the Student Union of DAV college here gheraoed the principal on Wednesday and demanded that the affiliation of the college should be shifted to Shri Dev Suman Uttarakhand University from the HNB Garhwal central university. On Wednesday morning the members of the students unions gathered at the college campus and camped at the office of the Principal Devendra Bhasin.
The president of student’s union, Paras Goyal said the students are facing problems due to fickleness of the HNB University and it neither has technology nor infrastructure needed for a University. He said students fail to take admissions in higher classes due to problems like mistakes in admit cards and inordinate delay in declaration of the examination results. Goyal said that though the HNB University is central university but it is not mentioned in the mark sheets provided by the university.
The delegation told the Principal the biggest impediment the students are facing is that the college could not start evening classes as these classes are affiliated with Sri Dev Suman Uttarakhand University. The central universities act mandates that an affiliated college cannot seek simultaneous affiliation from other university. The students pointed out that thousands of students failed to get admission last year in evening classes due to the above mentioned clause. The Principal assured the students that their demand for change of affiliation would be send to appropriate authorities for necessary action. Incidentally the college administration started the process of admissions for PG courses from Wednesday.
