DAV (PG) College Grievance Redressal Committee rejected the complaint of Govind Singh, losing candidate in the students’ union

election, who had complained that Jogendra Singh who was elected to the post of general secretary was not a regular student of the college and should be removed from his post.

The college Principal Devendra Bhasin said that in his complaint, Govind Singh stated that the elected candidate Jogendra should be removed from his post as he was enrolled in MA (political science) in 2010-11 and he had appeared in the annual examination so he should be considered as ex-student.

The complainant further contended that Jogendra had then taken admission in 2013-14 in MA (sociology) as a regular student in the college which is against the rules.

The GRC members verified the contention of the complainant and came to know that Jogendra was given admission in 2010-11 in MA (Political science), but with regard to the student being ex-student it is a known fact that those students who fail in the examination conducted by the University are liable to be treated as ex-student. However in this particular case, the university declined to conduct the examination of 3200 students in 2011 and Jogendra was also one of them. His examination could also not be completed and had no sanctity at all. As such he can not be treated as ex-student.

According to GRC members, since the admission of the student in the college is always in accordance with the rules framed by the university as also mentioned in the college prospectus. Jogendra’s admission in 2010-11 in MA (political science) stands cancelled by the university and since gap of these years is also relaxed by the university vide its prospectus 2013-14 hence the student can take fresh admission in 2013-14 in MA was rightly treated as fresh and valid. So the election of Jogendra to the post of secretary of the students union 2013-14 can not be invalidated on the basis of alleged complaint.
